Board the Aranui 3 in Papeete, Tahiti and sail almost 800
miles to the most spectacular and remote islands in French Polynesia.
Farther from a continental landfall than any other group of islands
on earth, the twelve Marquesas jut out of the open Pacific just
south of the equator. Brooding volcanic pinnacles pierce the
landscape, while the lush vegetation overflows in colors and
fragrances. Nuka Hiva, one of the islands, was the recent filming
location of the television series "Survivors." Take
lots of film for all this pristine beauty! This freighter is
the best way to sample all these islands which are visited only
by adventurous, well traveled people. The Aranui is a perfect
blend of freighter and cruise ship, making this a fine choice
if you have never been on a freighter before or can only escape
civilization for 3 weeks.
The Aranui 3 features a well equipped gym, a swimming pool,
2 charming bars, a library, 2 lounges, and a full program of
activities. There are special marine facilities onboard for fishing,
snorkeling and scuba diving. The large, family-style dining room
offers panoramic views as varied as the menus of French and Polynesian
cuisine. The Aranui 3 will maintain the warmth and intimacy of
the old Aranui II, with a high staff to passenger ratio and the
"Island charm and graciousness." Contact
Joycene for a detailed, colorful brochure, a former employee's
write-up of traveling on the Aranui II, and to make a reservation.
There is a doctor onboard. No age limit.
